About Countryballs

One maker. A lot of balls. Here is who we are and what we care about.

What is Countryballs?

Countryballs (countryballs.org) is a home for free countryball games that you play right in your browser. No downloads, no installs, nothing to update: open a page, tap Play, start bonking.

The first game is Countryball Defenders, a cute countryball tower defense with 205 balls, one for every country, champions in silly hats, a comic story and an angry Moon. More countryball games will join it on the shelf over time, and every one will be free to play in the browser.

Who makes it

Countryballs is made by sxon (all lowercase, on purpose), the sole developer at Insoola Information Technology Solutions, an independent game maker in the Philippines. sxon also made Country Simulator, a free browser game where you create and run your own nation.

Being small means every part of the games gets real attention: the balls, the jokes, the music, the server that checks every battle, and the pages you are reading now.

I am Switzerland. I am not the maker. I am the guide. Very different job. Better snacks.

How we make games

  • Free in the browser. Every game is free to play on any phone, tablet or computer. Countryball Defenders has no ads.
  • Fair for everyone. Our server replays every battle from its seed and your taps, so nobody can cheat their way up the ranks. Gems are optional, and the tour is built so a free player can finish it.
  • Tested the long way. Before a balance change goes out, a bot plays the whole campaign as a free player, to make sure nobody hits a wall they can’t climb.
  • Kind humour. We joke about food, sports, landmarks and famous quirks. No war, no religion, no real people. Every country is a ball, and every ball is loved.
  • Calm screens. One thing at a time, few numbers, short guides. New features open one by one as you play.
  • Real data only. No fake players on the ranks, no made-up reviews, no fake countdowns.
  • Your privacy. We don’t sell your data. Our privacy policy explains, in plain words, what the game keeps and why.

Made by fans of the style

Countryballs began in 2009 as Polandball, a comic on a German imageboard, and grew thanks to a huge community of artists. We are fans of that community, not its owners: flags belong to their countries, and the countryball style belongs to everyone who draws it. If you are new to the whole thing, start with what are countryballs?

What comes next

Countryball Defenders keeps growing: every 30 days a new Bonk Pass season brings new prizes and a look you can’t get anywhere else, and every day the Solar Trial takes the squad to a new world of the solar system. And behind the scenes, the next countryball game is cooking. Switzerland knows what it is. Switzerland is not telling.
